Qlik Sense allows you to organise data in apps. An app is a collection of sheets that contain visualisations. Each app will have its own data model and all the sheets and visualisations within an app can utilise that data model.

Developers create apps and fill them with sheets and visualisations. Users consume apps to answer business questions. 

Apps themselves are organised in streams (Qlik Sense on-premise) or spaces (Qlik Sense Cloud). The stream/ space is like a folder in your drives, the app is an Excel workbook in that folder and a sheet within that app is like a worksheet in the workbook.
